{"id":368,"date":"2009-07-16T00:14:26","date_gmt":"2009-07-15T22:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/142.93.241.207\/?p=368"},"modified":"2009-11-30T08:18:33","modified_gmt":"2009-11-30T06:18:33","slug":"openfoam-live-usb-with-suse-studio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.albertopassalacqua.com\/?p=368","title":{"rendered":"OpenFOAM Live USB with SUSE Studio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I have recently prepared an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.openfoam.co.uk\">OpenFOAM<sup>(r)<\/sup><\/a> Live USB image using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.susestudio.com\">SUSE Studio<\/a> to try Studio functionalites, and I was really impressed by the ease of use, the clean interface and its capabilities. You find a detailed description of what I did in the <a href=\"http:\/\/files.getdropbox.com\/u\/659842\/Blog\/openSUSE\/StudioOpenFOAM.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">slides<\/a> I prepared. In the slides you will see how to build a personalized version of openSUSE, add OpenFOAM to it and complete the system with some CFD tools like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hpfem.jku.at\/netgen\/\" target=\"_blank\">NETGEN<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engits.com\" target=\"_blank\">enGrid<\/a>. In the end, the system is tested in real time on SUSE Studio servers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The compressed image (64 bit only at the moment) can be downloaded from <a href=\"http:\/\/susestudio.com\/download\/c70280f1fe2beea4e7abb65e11daa210\/OpenFOAM_Live.x86_64-0.0.2.oem.tar.gz\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. After expanding it, you can write it on your USB pendrive with the command, given as root,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: monospace;\"> <\/span>sudo dd if=\/home\/geeko\/myappliance.raw of=\/dev\/sdb bs=4k<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">assuming the image is in \/home\/geeko and the destination device is \/dev\/sdb<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Note that, at the moment, due to a problem in the live-installer, the live installer might not work properly.
