{"id":2058,"date":"2021-04-17T08:28:36","date_gmt":"2021-04-17T06:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.albertopassalacqua.com\/?p=2058"},"modified":"2021-04-17T08:31:54","modified_gmt":"2021-04-17T06:31:54","slug":"dynamic-smagorinsky-model-updated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.albertopassalacqua.com\/?p=2058","title":{"rendered":"Dynamic Smagorinsky model updated"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Almost eleven years ago, I implemented a version of the dynamic Smagorinsky model of Lilly (1992) into OpenFOAM\u00ae and I still receive many requests of a reference where this code has been used, which is quite interesting because I have not implemented the model to do any specific research work, but because back then OpenFOAM used to have a quite strange implementation of the dynamic Smagorinsky model, whose coefficient was averaged on the entire domain volume.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This implementation was stuck until now to OpenFOAM 2.x until now. Today I have ported it to OpenFOAM v2012, and the code is available on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/AlbertoPa\/dynamicSmagorinsky\">GitHub<\/a>. As soon as it is better tested, a release for the latest version will appear.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Since the request of citing this model still comes from time to time, I have added a DOI using <a href=\"https:\/\/zenodo.org\/record\/4697995\">Zenodo,<\/a> which is visible in the README file for the repository.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Note that the test case is the tutorial which came with OpenFOAM, and is provided for demonstration purposes only.
